Provide two similarities and two differences between Ancient Greece and Rome. Explain three impacts of the Black Death on the population of European and its’ trade routes.
Sure! First off, roman women were considered citizens but in greece, the women weren't! From about 500 B.C.E. - 400 C.E. We tend to lump ancient Greece and Rome together because the Romans adopted many aspects of Greek culture when they conquered the areas of Europe under Greek control (circa 145 - 30 B.C.E.). Also, the ancient Roman and Greek civilizations had well-organized political processes that greatly influenced the manner in which later governments were structured in Europe and the United States. The system of political parties, the establishment of divisions in government -- even political words such as democracy, monarchy and tyranny -- originated in ancient Rome and Greece. Although Rome drew many of its political principles from the Greeks, and as a result, developed a government similar to that of Greece, there were several differences between the two.
Black Death was one of the worst pandemics in human history. In the 14th century, at least 75 million people on three continents perished due to the painful, highly contagious disease. Originating from fleas on rodents in China, the Great Pestilence spread westward and spared few regions. In Europe’s cities, hundreds died daily and their bodies were usually thrown into mass graves Following centuries of a rise in population, the world’s population experienced a catastrophic reduction and would not be replenished for more than one hundred years.
