HOW DO I GET X BY ITSELF? 12/4x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it must have a = sign to solve

OpenStudy (imstuck):

You have to have an equation in order to get x by itself. Getting x by itself means that you have it on one side of the equals sign, and everything else is on the other side. That's what "getting x by itself" means. Did you copy it wrong?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Y=12/4X+2

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

@IMStuck

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Sorry, I'm here now. To get x by itself, you need to move everything over to the other side by the y. First of all, does your equation look like this:\[y=\frac{ 12 }{ 4x+2 }\]or this:\[y=\frac{ 12 }{ 4x }+2\]

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Those are two very different equations.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

the first one

OpenStudy (imstuck):

gotcha. I'm going to write it out in the drawing board thing so you can follow the step by step, ok?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

ok
