Are viruses living or non-living?

Miracrown (miracrown):

Viruses are not cells. They do not have a cell membrane or other components of living cells. - Living host cells are required for their reproduction. Outside of the host, they act as nonliving chemicals. -They do not metabolize or respond to stimuli. -They have genetic material and can therefore mutate and evolve. -They form parasitic relationships with living organisms; the virus benefits at the expense of the living organism.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

She is correct.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

This is open for debate, but generally they are considered "not living" by most biologist because they require a living host to reproduce.

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

I agree with @PRAETORIAN.10 ....she is correct....

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

Which is a first, but I guess there's a first time for everything xD
