x^2 * x^3 is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its x^5 sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I read it wrong earlier... when multiplying x with different exponents you add them so the answer is x^5

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

x^2 * x^3 = x^2+3 = x^5 Multiplying variables with exponents means we add the exponents. Only when an exponent is to another power is when we multiply the exponents.

that's what i was thinking, just wanted to be sure. thanks!

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

Np :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is its2x^2 * 5x^3 its 10x^5 ..... always multiply the constants, and add the exponents
