OpenStudy (anonymous):

Complete the Timeline of Early 20th Century American Literature by adding ONE literary title (short story, novel, or poem) and ONE influential event for that literary title for each of the decades listed. You will also need to explain how the two pieces are connected. You should be able to complete this as you read through the lesson, filling in events on your timeline, however you may also use outside sources if you would like. You should have a total of eight events on your timeline before submitting it to your instructor. Timeline of Early 20th Century American Literature 1900 1910 1920 1930

I have a list of my short stories, novels, and poems. but i'm stuck on the influential events for them :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the ones u picked?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Railroad Trainman By H.G. Bishop (1909) ______________________________________ The Congo By Vachel Lindsey (1914) ______________________________________ The Waste Land By T.S. Elliot (1922) ______________________________________ A Futher Range By Robert Frost (1936) ______________________________________

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Oh! This is an easy one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You've done it? @Mchilds15

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Yeah, a year or two ago.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well could you help me on it or something i've been stuck on it for days :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mchilds15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess she got it:/

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Sure :) I picked other literary pieces but I think I did choose the waste land for one of them. So basically you're going to read the stuff and look at what was happening at the time they were written. Then you're going to pick which one(s) most likely influenced the writer when he/she wrote it. And after that, you'll explain how they are related. That help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea kinda I guess

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

I can tell you what I put for The Wasteland by T.S. Elliot if you think that'll help you more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes please if you would! @Mchilds15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On June 18, 1900, the Empress Dowager ordered all foreigners to be killed. Several foreign ministers and their families were killed before the international force could protect them. On August 14, 1900, the international force took Peking and subdued the rebellion.

OpenStudy (mchilds15):

Okay So it was written in 1922 so I put it in the 1920's slot 1920- “The Waste land” by T. S. Elliot Influence--The bubonic plague in India How are they related? The plague was an intense killing machine that pretty much made a waste land, destroying everything in its path.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there anything else u need help with on that assignment?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are u still in that class? @brijackson6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i just got done with it why? @JohnA8421
