i tried doing this but it seems that im doing something wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (freckles):

What is the domain of f?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well x cannot equal 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for f(x)

OpenStudy (freckles):

and the domain of g?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x cannot equal -3

OpenStudy (freckles):

intersect that domain with your other domain and you have the domains for all your functions you are looking for

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean? like after i solve for them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so my question was the for (f+g)(x) you add them and so on for the other ones?

OpenStudy (freckles):

Oh you don't have question for domains? just with operations?

OpenStudy (freckles):

(f+g)(x) means you will add f(x) to g(x)

OpenStudy (freckles):

so if you had f(x)=5 and g(x)=6+x then (f+g)(x)=5+6+x=11+x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so for the first example i would have to make them have the same denominator right?

OpenStudy (freckles):

Yeah

OpenStudy (freckles):

In order to add them you need the same denominator
