In the notes for Session 12, it says (n-1)^st. What does st mean?

OpenStudy (phi):

I think the st in \( (n-1)^{st} \)is short for "first" as in the "en minus first" which is easier to say than "en minus one-th" It is similar to their use of "th" in \(n^{th} \), pronounced en-th In other words, you can ignore the "st".
