Let f(x) = 9x - 2 and g(x) = -x + 3. Find f(g(x)).

OpenStudy (ja1):

So far I got: \[f(g(x)) = -9x + 27x + 2x - 6\] But I probably messed something up :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically you plug in g(x) instead of x in the f(x) equation. f(g(x)) = 9(-x+3) -2 = -9x +27 -2 = -9x +25

OpenStudy (ja1):

Wait but why is the -2 behind g(x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because -2 is part of the original f(x) function. you only replace the x in the f(x) function and you replace the x by g(x)

OpenStudy (ja1):

Ahh ok, you made it all clear now thanks :)
