Cann You Help Me Understand Sam is a waiter at a local restaurant where he earns wages of $6 per hour. Sam figures that he also earns about $2.50 in tips for each person he serves. Sam works 4 hours on a particular day. If n represents the number of people Sam serves that day, which of the following functions could Sam use to figure E, his total earn

OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):

Okay, so all this wants you to do is write an equation that can be solved for E.

I Know But I Have No Clue How To Set It Upp

OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):

on it :) one sec

Okayy(:

OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):

So what we have to do is take the components presented in the word problem and plug them into an equation. E-the number that we are solving for. he works 4 hours on a particular day, earning $6 each hour n is our unknown here, because we're trying to figure out how this affects the equation. and he earns $2.50 in tips per customer. When it says the following, does it have some equations listed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. E(n) = 4n + 10 B. E(n) = 2.5n C. E(n) = 2.5n + 24

OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):

It's not A, because we aren't looking for n with relation to 4 because it is talking about how long he worked when compared to the customers (which doesn't fit the problem). It's not B because we're looking for Total earn, not just a function modeling his tips. C is correct because it refers to both the total earn and his pay for that day (6*4=24 and 2.5*n is modeling his tips). Does this kinda/sort of make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thanks i just /dont Know How To Do Functions

OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):

I know, functions bite. I'm so happy I don't have to deal with them any more. Anyway, I looked at this site and it might help you understand a little bit more. http://www.mathsisfun.com/sets/function.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If , complete the following statement: f(X)=2(x)^2+5\[\sqrt(X+2)\] The domain for f(x) is all real numbers greater than or equal to _____. Like Stuff Like Thisss

OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):

Unfortunately, I don't think that I am proficient enough in functions to help with this. I am so sorry.

Its Ok Thank You For The Help

No problem.
