Stacy wants to construct a circle inscribed in a triangle, while Ben wants to construct a circle circumscribed about a triangle. How will Stacy and Ben's steps differ from each other?

@Gabylovesyou

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

Here are the steps to inscribe a triangle in a circle... - Bisect one of the angles - Bisect another angle - Where they cross is the center of the inscribed circle - Construct a perpendicular from the center point to one side of the triangle - Place compass on the center point, adjust its length to where the perpendicular crosses the triangle, and draw your inscribed circle!

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

Here are the steps to construct a circumscribed circle... - Construct the perpendicular bisector of one side of triangle - Construct the perpendicular bisector of another side - Where they cross is the center of the Circumscribed circle - Place compass on the center point, adjust its length to reach any corner of the triangle, and draw your Circumscribed circle!

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

Inscribed circles use angle bisectors and circumscribed circles use perpendicular bisectors..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i think it asks how to inscribe a circle in a triangle

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

yep :) thats it.. those r the steps for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not inscribe a triangle in a circle, or is it the same thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait nvm, you are right

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

its the same thing.. inscribe a circle in a triangle is when the circle is in the triangle... circumscribe a circle in a triangle is when its outside the triangle

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup yup yup, i was wrong my bad, thanks

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

np

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the differences would be that to inscribe a circle in a triangle you would have to bisect an angle, but not in a circumscribed circle.

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

correct...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and in a circumscribed circle, you would have to construct a perpendicular bisector of a side of the triangle

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok those are the only differences?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok bye have a good day

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and thanks!!

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

bye :) and ur going to have a circle inside the triangle for inscribed.. for circumscribed ur gonna draw a circle outside..

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

np :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh right right, cya:)
