How would i solve for t and y in these equations? y=(0.4349)T y=(-0.4559)T+1.4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= y. So set them equal to one another and solve for T.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried that, but i got a negative number and apparently it's not supposed to be a negative number :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What did you try?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(0.4349)T=(-0.4559)T+1.4 -(.4559) ohhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wasn't supposed to subtract x: thank you :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm i still get a negative. I divided by (-0.4559)T on both sides and got (-0.9539)T=1.4 and when I divide both by (-0.9539), I get -1.4676

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what you want to do is you want to combine the like terms. You have: (0.4349)T = (-0.4559)T+1.4 You need to get the T's together by adding .4559 T to both sides to get: .8909 T = 1.4
