OpenStudy (rainbow_dashie):

Is grass A fibrous root or a taproot?

OpenStudy (rainbow_dashie):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

A fibrous root system (sometimes also called adventitious root system) is the opposite of a taproot system. It is usually formed by thin, moderately branching roots growing from the stem. A fibrous root system is universal in monocotyledonous plants and ferns. A taproot is a straight tapering root growing vertically downward and forming the center from which subsidiary rootlets spring.
