OpenStudy (loinducoeur):

A uniform rod, 2m long, weighs 0.4N. If weights of 0.8N and 0.4N are suspended from ends A and B, at point will it balance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Consider a point on the rod...and equate the torque at that points to find distance if balancing point from either sides

OpenStudy (loinducoeur):

So, basically, trial and error?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nah...I am saying that we consider AB as rod...we assume a point C which is at distance 'x' from either point A or B...this way we can get the torque due to both sides weights...and if we equate them...we get the value of X,I.e, the unknown distance or rather the balancing point
