angle which is equal to its complement ans supplement

OpenStudy (perl):

lets use definition of complement. so lets suppose angle y is a complement of angle x This implies x + y = 90 and further suppose angle y is a supplement to angle x this implies: x + y = 180 there is no solution to this system of equations

OpenStudy (perl):

i may have read the question incorrectly

Miracrown (miracrown):

Complementary angles sum to 90 degrees Supplementary angles sum to 180 degrees. So an angle which is equal to its complement is 45 degrees, but the supplement of 45 degrees is 135 degrees. So. Um. Not. Sure. What. The. Statement. Is. About. Hrmph.

Miracrown (miracrown):

well there's a further equation to it. It says angle which is equal to its complement. So this means x = y too but it's still unsolvable

Miracrown (miracrown):

I think it's a bogus statement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let us get that the question is asking for the angles separately... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle which is equal to its Compliment, suppose \(x\) is that angle and \(y\) is its Complement, so, \(y = x\) only: \(x + y = 90 \implies x + x = 90 \implies 2x = 90 \implies x = 45^{\circ}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Similarly, the angle which is equal to its supplement can be found by: \(x + y = 180\) and put \(y = x\)..
