**MEDAL** Can somebody explain this to me? Is there a specific formula for this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There isn't a special formula or anything. This is a problem talking about two lines given by the two equations. And the question is basically asking about where they intersect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put first equation in second to find value of x then using that value determine the value of y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Following the insert rule, is the answer B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks good to me!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I basically did 4(1/2) + 2(3/2) = 5

OpenStudy (uri):

No formula,you need to arrange them and add/subract -9x+y=-3 (-2) 4x+2y=5 18x-2y=6 4x+2y=5 ======== 22x=11 x=11/22 x=1/2 now use the value of x in any original equation to find y 4(1/2)+2y=5 2+2y=5 2y=5-2 2y=3 y=3/2

OpenStudy (uri):

You need to equal y or x to solve.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@NobodySpecial but you need to make sure that that point is in both equations. But yes that's correct.

Thank you everyone for your help! :)

Yw. :)
