if a function define as f(x)={x-2 for x>0 then f(1)-f(-1)= {-x+3 for x<0

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

plug in -1, to find f(-1), into the "-x+3" since that is the part of the piece wise function where x is less than zero (where it is negative). And plug in 1, to find f(1), into the x-2, since that is where x is positive (greater than zero).

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

After you find f(1) and f(-1), subtract the value of f(-1) from the value of f(1).

[(1)-2]-[-(-1)+3]=[-1]-[4]=-5
