How do photographers do angles when they are taking pics?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It depends on what type of subject you're photographing! What type of lens are you using? What is the weather? What mode are you on? And most importantly, what are you looking for!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk.... I am really just a beginner so I don't know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well for starters, is this for a test? Or is this something You'd just like to know in general?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is not a test I would just like to know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay! That's really good, so first off is what type of camera are you using, if you have one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't have one but i plan to get a canon rebel

hmmm it seems to be similar to a camera I have previously worked with. There are different settings to each camera. Manual makes you do all of the work, To start off, you'll probably be on auto, of course you have to be specific with what you're photographing. With people a huge part of it is not with the camera, but with the OUTER aspect! With people You shouldn't try to stand above them, but eye to eye with them, maybe angling upward. You need a focal point as well. Is it their face? What they're wearing? It might even be a group.

The different types of lighting are also important. There is front lighting, which is coming from YOUR direction, side lighting either comes from the left or the right, and then back lighting, which is coming from behind them.

There's also natural lighting and man made lighting. Man made is just like a lamp, natural is the sun or other non man made lighting.

If you're photographing a moving person or thing, I'll need to brush up on that again DX. Something you'll need to know though for sure is APERTURE, which is the size of the camera hole in the lens. A big aperture lets more light in, where as a little aperture doesn't.
