2.5y + 3x = 27 5x – 2.5y = 5 What equation is the result of adding the two equations? What is the solution to the system?

@RyleeC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For part A. set both equal to zero, by subtracting the 27 and 5, then you can add both equations. For part B we will be using substitution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part B. x=(-2.5+27)/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Substitute, 5(-2.5y+27)/3 -2.5y = 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes y=6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

substitute y in and solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x-2.5(6)=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should end up with (4,6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah thats what I got

Good, and for part A I might be wrong on how to do it. Not really sure what its asking.
