If f(x)=x^2+3x+5, what is f(3+h)? How do I solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically its meaning substitute x = 3+h into the function. So you would get. (3+h)^2 + 3(3+h) + 5 Now expand that and you'll get h^2 + 9h + 23 Now you have to use the quadratic rule and you will get some complex roots

Oh! Ok, that makes a ton more sense. Thanks!
