Specific heat is the amount of ______ required to raise the temperature of 1 kg of a material 1 degree Celsius.
@Abhisar
What do you think it should bne ?
*be
I thought it was energy but I got it wrong. So now I don't know.
then I would've been wrong, too. educate us, abhisar! :-)
maybe they want you to put in 'heat' (wiki says heat). but then your teacher is just stupid, because energy is as correct as heat.
Because heat is a form of energy :)
But since we are talking about specific heat, we will say that it is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 kg of a material 1 degree Celsius.
if you look at the unit 'joule per kelvin' though, then the answer 'energy' being wrong contradicts the smarter mind. heat is more specific than energy, though. if you put in a bunch of sugar, which has lots of energy stored in chamical bonds, your pot of water won't get warmer just by that.
