Medal!! Which two cellular structures have a role in the creation of proteins? A. ribosomes and mitochondria B. mitochondria and nuclear membrane C. nucleus and mitochondria D. nucleus and ribosomes
D
proteins are synthesized my ribosomes that sit on the membrane of the endoplasmatic reticulum. the RNA from which proteins are translated comes from the nucleus. mitochondria also have their own DNA and can produce proteins via their own ribosomes, so they are definitely part of the protein creation machinery. and since ribosomes are not considered a 'cellular structure' (I think), I would guess it's C.
but, you know, could also be A or D, depending on what your book says. many biology books are either weird or outdated, but it's been known for over 40 years now that mitochondria make independent proteins.
I'll just go C
good luck :-)
