I'll be giving my answer and reasoning to the question. Could you please explain what I did wrong(assuming I did do something wrong)? 1: State the degree: (x3)(y^2)+7(x^2)(y^5)-3(x)(y^8) The degree is xy? Because 1 is the GCF of 1,2,and 3 as well as 2,5, and 8.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the degree is a number, not a variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ (x^3)(y^2)+7(x^2)(y^5)-3(x)(y^8)\] i believe the degree is 9 because of the last term the exponents add up to 9 and that is the highest one

Okay thank you very much. I guess that makes sense.
