When the temperature of an object increases, what happens to the kinetic energy of the particles in the object?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

temperature is the total kinetic energy of particles ina n object, so as the temperature increases, the kinetic energy also increases ;p Welcome to OPenstudy!

Not quite right to say temperature is the total kinetic energy, the kinetic energy of the particles in an object is proportional to the absolute temperature of the object, as long as the temperature is not too low.
