11 − 2(x + 6)^2 = 0

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well I would just add -2(x + 6)^2 to both sides \[\large 11 = 2(x + 6)^2\] now we can divide by 2 \[\large \frac{11}{2} = (x + 6)^2\] square root both sides \[\large \pm\sqrt{\frac{11}{2}} = x + 6\] and finally subtract both sides by 6 \[\large x = \pm\sqrt{\frac{11}{2}} - 6\] which you can then break into 2 equations and solve for 'x'
