Which of the following is an example of primary succession? Select one: a. Wetland re-growth after a severe storm b. Forest re-growth after an ice storm c. Plant development on a layer of rock deposits d. An abandoned farm becoming a meadow
What would you think it is.
I have no clue.
Primary succession is one of two types of biological and ecological succession of plant life, occurring in an environment in which new substrate devoid of vegetation and usually lacking soil, such as a lava flow or area left from retreated glacier, is deposited.
To be honest... I have no idea what that means.
First find what you can eliminate.
An abandoned farm becoming a meadow. Does this have anything to do with primary succession.
@kballet084
*whimpers* I dont know. i have no clue what Primary succession is. even when u explained it it made my brain fry. To be completely honest I was looking for an A B C or D
Primary succession is basically the first plant life in an area with no life. Do you think trees grow first or moss and ferns grow first. Obviosly the smaller plants. They make the soil fertile enough for bigger plants such as trees.
Primary succession is one of two types of biological and ecological succession of plant life, occurring in an environment in which new substrate devoid of vegetation and usually lacking soil, such as a lava flow or area left from retreated glacier, is deposited. In other words, it is the gradual growth of an ecosystem over a longer period.
I kind of said that.
@kballet084 The first two start off with trees. The last option does not relate. So which option has a plant in it.
C?
Yes. Primary succession starts off with small plants. Secondary succession has trees. So C is the answer.
AHH. ok :))
Thanks :)
You're welcome.
