Need help will give medal Which is an example of an algebraic expression? A. 4 + c > 1 B. b > –2 C. m – 3 D. 12 = a + 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

an expression always has an equal sign so it would be d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so an algebraic expression will be a mathematical representation of a variable with it's operations without an equals sign.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not true @cool41, you are thinking of an equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i think i got mixed up with something else sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An equation will have an = sign. An expression does not. The expression x + 2 is an example of an algebraic expression because it has a variable and no equal sign. The Equation x + 2 = 3 \is an example of an equation that is an algebraic equation since it has a variable and an equals sign.

thanks

So @preteenpony, which of your answers is an algebraic expression?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok sorry got mixed up :(

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it would do good to combine equalities and inequalities into one working group.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

therefore an equation is when we are comparing the equality of 2 things .... and expression is not a comparison, but simply a statement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
