Medal Increase a positive number by 10%. Now decrease the resulting number by 10%. Is the result the original number? Explain. -The new number is not the original number, the increase was greater than the decrease. -The new number is the original number, the increase and decrease of the number was the same. -The new number is not the original number, the decrease was greater than the increase.

The new number is not the original number, the decrease was greater than the increase. Think about it: 100% + 10% = 110% If you subtract 10% of 110: 110 - 11= 99%
