how do you find the y intercept of a line when you only know the slope?

what is all the information you have?

If you only know the slope you can easily find a y-intercept. Since you didn't provide any data I am going to make something up. Let's say your slope is 1/3. (2-1/4-1) (y2-y1/x2-x1) The x coordinates being (-1,2), and the y coordinates being (-1,4). You will plug the slope into y=mx+b y=(1/3)x+b Then you will plug in either of your x and y coordinates 4=(1/3)2+b Then solve for b. 4=(1/3)2+b 4=2/3+b 4-2/3=b 3 1/3=b So this case your y-intercept would be 3 1/3. Hope this helps.
