pi/5 - pi/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take pi common and you have pi(1/5-1/2) =pi(2-5)/10=-3pi/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I have the answer already, but I wanted to know how to get there, the answer says 3pi/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would I just simplify?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you post me the question ??> because what i answer is correct for the question you gave

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. sorry. its Trig. i have to simplify the equation. \[2 \cos ^{2}(\frac{ \pi }{ 5 }-\frac{ \pi }{ 2 }) -1\] I think its because of the 2(3pi/5)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the identity gives me \[\cos 2(\frac{ \pi }{ 5 }-\frac{ \pi }{ 2 })\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm yes it is correct and you got the value of (pi/5-pi/2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and cos(-theta)=cos (theta)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

darnit! see these identities are so tricky! ok so then it becomes what? if only pi/2 is negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant get you last question @theee_queenbee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@theee_queenbee check the attachment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you so much I understand this problem. the only thing I dont understand is what happened with the denom. did you divide the 2 by 10 to get 5 as the denom? I understand everything else

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes 2(x/2)=x we used this formula @theee_queenbee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok thanks so much!! I appreciate your help!!!! :)
