What is slope and how is it determined from a graph?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

slope is 'rate of change' it is a measure of how 'steep' the graph is - in the graph below line A has a higher value for slope than line b - you can see it is 'steeper' |dw:1415654011398:dw|

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

slope represents the direction and steepness of a line. To describe how to find the slope using a graph, I would have to have an example. Do you have a specific problem you need help with?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

@MrNood you did a good job explaining slope. :)

OpenStudy (mrnood):

It has a numerical value which can be calculated from 2 points on the line it is known as 'change in y/change in x' or 'rise/run' or mathematically 'tan theta'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@MrNood is that how you determine it from a graph?
