one second please

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Okay :)

Mitchell received a stipend at the beginning of the semester to buy textbooks. During the semester, he spent $418.16 on textbooks. He had $80.59 of the stipend left at the end of the semester. x - $418.16 = $80.59 How much was Mitchell's stipend? $579.34 $337.57 $498.75 $377.86

OpenStudy (kamibug):

To solve for x just add 418.16 to 80.59 :) That will give you the total before he spent any money.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C.

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Yup! =]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i have another one seocnd

Susan's math teacher assigned x homework problems on Monday. On Tuesday, she assigned 15 more problems. Over the two days, a total of 25 homework problems were assigned. Which equation could be used to find x, the number of problems assigned on Monday? 15x = 25 x + 15 = 25 25 + x = 15 x - 15 = 25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You bye the way :D

OpenStudy (kamibug):

No problem :) Let x be the amount she assigned on Monday, which we aren't given. So we will add 15 to that because that's what she gave on Tuesday. Then we will put all that equal to 25 since it's the total of the two days. x + 15 = 25

Janette went to Tire Mart and paid $122.57 per tire for 4 tires and a flat rate fee for installation for a total of $555.28 before taxes. Monique went to Fast Wheels and paid $136.71 per tire for 4 tires and a flat rate fee for installation for a total of $585.34 before taxes. The difference in the amount that they paid in installation charges is $

OpenStudy (kamibug):

To find how much they each paid for installation, you need to find how much they paid in total for tires and then subtract that from the total that they paid including the installation. Janette: 122.57 x 4 = 490.28 ... 555.28 - 490.28 = $65 Janette paid $65 for the installation charge. Monique: 136.71 x 4 = 546.84 ... 585.34 - 546.84 = $38.5 Monique paid $38.5 for the installation charge. To find the difference, just take Monique's fee amount and subtract it from Janette's amount! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was 26.50:D

OpenStudy (kamibug):

You got it. :)

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Words can be used as math terms. More is the same thing as adding so it would refer to addition.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Per is another one and it is referred to multiplication.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 – 7 * 5 + 2 * 4 A. –40 B. –24 C. –12 D. 28

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Exactly! in this case the word "difference" is used, which represents subtraction. Always keep and eye out for these words. :D

OpenStudy (rainbow_dashie):

???? are negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can leave then come back in to see

OpenStudy (conqueror):

@cjackson2002 All you have to do is type that in google, it's not rocket science.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry:(

OpenStudy (conqueror):

-40 is incorrect...

OpenStudy (conqueror):

No offence meant.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is it then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:/

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Hold on @cjackson2002

OpenStudy (conqueror):

I think google has it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is it then!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Oh, well Google put the "3 -" in parenthesis beside the multiplication of 7 and 5, so in that case it'd be -24.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i haev another one seocnd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 3.2+1.4\div7 }{ 9.3-7.6\times4 }\]

OpenStudy (kamibug):

\[\frac{ 3.4 }{ -21.1 }\] That's what I got after simplifying the top the numerator and denominator. You could divide them to get a decimal if you don't want it in fraction form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Rainbow_dashie r u in science class

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you everybody see ya! later!
