The table below shows some values of f(x) and g(x) for different values of x: determine the solution of the equation f(x) = g(x) x = -2 x = -1 x = 1 x = 4
For each value of x, plug it in to f(x) and g(x). What do you get for x=1? x=-1?
i dont get it at all :( do i base it off when they both equal 1? @BTaylor
no. let's look at f(x). f(x) is given as 3x+7. When x=1, f(x) = 3(1) + 7 = 10. for g(x) = 4^(-x), when x=1, g(x) = 4^(-1) = 1/4. So those aren't equal. Can you do the same for x=-1?
fx= 4 g(x)=4 or -4?
Good job. g(x) = 4, since \(4^{-(-1)}=4\)
thanks for the help! i have one more that i need help with, could i open a new question and get help with that one?
oh another question is the awnser 4 or -1?
the solution is x=-1, not x=4, since you are looking for the x-valule.
alright thank :)
