For number 2 let "m" be the amount of time it takes for math and "e" the amount of time it takes for English. If math takes twice as long as English that means m = 2e and e + m = 2 So substitute in the value of m into that equation and solve for e. e + 2e = 2 3e = 2 e = 2/3 So English takes two-thirds of an hour.
