A chemist wishes to make 3 liters of a 7% acid solution by mixing a 9% acid solution and a 4% acid solution. How many liters of each solution should the chemist use? Write your answer as a complete sentence. First label the unknowns x = # liters of 9% acid solution y = # of liters of 4% acid solution Then use the directions to make equations. x + y = 3 .09x + .04y = .07 (3)

OpenStudy (perl):

the first equation deals with total amounts of solutions. The second equation deals just with the pure acid. Percents are changed to decimal numbers
