The summer camp down the road from you, Camp Sunshine, is looking for camp counselors. Write an email to Director Tom explaining why you would be a great camp counselor. Remember to include a description of your personality as well as any experiences you may have had that would be beneficial to you in this position.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's your question? Are you unsure how to start? Starting can sometimes be hard... Or are you looking for someone to write it for you? :b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know how to start it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you walk me through how to write this email

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah ok. Well, Are you good at helping others? Are you more of a peoples person? So start by saying something like - Hello Mr Tom. My name is (blank). I am writing you today because I heard that your camp is in need of a counselor, and I think that I am the right person for the job. (Or something along those lines) Then go on to talk about what qualifies you. Maybe - I love talking to others and helping out. My passion is to help, I would love to work with the kids, and show them that somebody really cares. Then maybe talk about like an experience you had or, something that you did with kids in the past. Talk about... uhmmmm idk how somebody helped you once, and that meant a lot to you, so now you wanna help others. Or maybe how you have done different with with kids (if you have) and talk about siblings or nieces and nephews you have worked with. Your problem solving skills and why you would make a great counselor for these kids at this camp.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know if it has to be real? or can you make stuff up about stuff you have done?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Talk about stuff like it said - "description of your personality as well as any experiences you may have had that would be beneficial to you in this position." So like.... for me.. I would say that I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders in sunday school. That I have worked with them and taught them in a fun and loving way. Or maybe that I'm an Aunt and that I have done a lot with my niece and nephew over the years. Also that helping people is my passion, and that I love working with kids. That I can be understanding, patient, loving, and fun with the kids. Just explain how you can be fun and understanding. To some extent I believe that anyone can be ;D You have probably helped a friend before when they needed help - think about it like that. Talk about experiences and emotions that you have actually had, because that's what brings your paper, or email, to life.

I often also use a thesaurus to get those big intelligent words that teachers like ;P SO dress it up. Make it sound professional, but also confident and intelligent. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is any of this helping? XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how to write the body

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome :) I'm sure you can relate to helping others. :) So think about that. Think about a time you helped someone and how happy that made you that YOU made a difference and improved somebody's day or feelings. ' Are you asking how do you write the body? Or that what I'm sating is helping with that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I actually have to write something similar today. :P brb :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so for my assignment today I am writing a cover letter. (for a job) And this is how they want me to write it: 1st paragraph: Explain why you are writing; identify the position and your source of information. Indicate in summary form your strongest qualifications for the position using a series of phrases. 2nd paragraph: Outline your strongest qualifications in more detail and show how they match the position requirements. As much as possible, provide evidence of your related work, extracurricular, and academic experiences and accomplishments. Refer to your enclosed resume. 3rd paragraph: (Optional) Convince the employer that you have the personal qualities and motivation to succeed. Relate your interests and qualities to your knowledge of the company. 4th paragraph: Request an interview and indicate how and when you can be contacted. Suggest that you will call at a specific time to discuss interview possibilities. Thank the reader for his/her consideration.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hopefully that helps :) It's pretty much the same thing that we have to write ;P just different jobs. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and here is a sample letter they gave me ;P
