Which expression is equivalent to this one? –5(6 + 11) A. (–5) · 6 + 11 B. (–5) + 6 + 11 C. (–5) · 6 · 11 D. (–5) · 6 + (–5) · 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well do you know how to start the problem? If not ill explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be A. Take a close look at the parentheses, they should guide you. Hope this helps! Lizzy :)

OpenStudy (anx):

The distributive property states that \[a(b+c)= ab + ac\] In your case you have the equation -5(6 + 11) So according you the property after distribution you'd have a= (-5) b = 6 c = 11 (-5)(6) + (-5)(11) CHOICE D. It also evaluates to (-5)

D
