Medal! A plane is an undefined term because it can be named using three noncollinear points is described generally, not using a formal definition is where other geometric shapes can be constructed is a flat surface that extends indefinitely in all directions

OpenStudy (perl):

you can only describe it in general intuitive terms, we can't define a plane exactly

OpenStudy (perl):

try this experiment, define a plane. you might say flat surface, but then what does 'flat surface' mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

technically @perl is correct, but for those of us that dont look at the world as indescribable haha, i think the answer is D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont like the wording of the problem tho, so it might be wrong

OpenStudy (perl):

we can't formally define a plane,

OpenStudy (perl):

at least not in euclidean geometry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.... this is y I dont understand the problem cause you cant define it

OpenStudy (perl):

you can formally define a triangle a triangle has three non collinear points. but you cant formally define point

OpenStudy (perl):

thats why it says 'generally '

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so im stuck on C and B

OpenStudy (perl):

" described generally, not using a formal definition" <---- this means, define it generally, suggest ideas . a plane is like a flat surface that extends infinitely.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i would say B or D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my gut says C but my brain says B

OpenStudy (perl):

a plane is like the surface of a table, this is not a formal definition

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its B, not C or D because yes those are true about planes, but thats not why theyre indescribable

OpenStudy (perl):

you can only suggest ideas for it. same problem with defining point, what is a point? we can only suggest ideas , we draw a dot with a pen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@perl i think youre hurting his head haha

OpenStudy (perl):

point, line, planes , and space are undefined terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just checked it is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its B I got it right

OpenStudy (perl):

we can only describe generally what a plane is, we can't define it . you have the same problem in english with a dictionary, you can't define every term or you go in a circle. In a dictionary a definition uses other terms. When you open a dictionary , you have to 'know' some basic terms, like what a table is, what a cat is , etc
