answers. com says You need to be able to see that this is called "the difference of two squares", which means that the first and last terms are both perfect squares. To factor this type of problem, you multiply: (the sum of the square roots of both terms) * (the difference of the square roots of both terms) In this case, the sqrt of 81x^2 = 9x and the sqrt of 100 = 10 So, you have the factoring: (9x + 10) * (9x - 10)
