History Question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The twentieth century—and the 1960s in particular—saw a proliferation of independence movements among former European colonies in Africa and Asia. Why do you think countries wanted independence? In what ways did these countries' struggles for independence mirror the American struggle for independence from Britain? How were they different?

I think I can help with the first bit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank zeus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Other countries began to openly vie for independence because they saw that it was not impossible for a smaller, weaker countries to gain independence from larger, more powerful countries. I don't know much about the revolutions in Africa and Asia so I can't help there. Sorry.
