OpenStudy (matimaticas):

When would it be appropriate to use degrees, and when would it be better to use radians?

OpenStudy (perl):

when you are doing calculus, many of the functions use radians when finding their derivative. The reason for using radians, is that derivative expression is much simpler when we use radians than if we used degrees. In precalculus it doesn't make much of a difference. for example derivative of sin(theta) is cos(theta) , in radians. derivative of sin(theta) is pi/180 * cos(theta) in degrees

OpenStudy (perl):

that pi/180 is tedious to write down

OpenStudy (matimaticas):

@perl do you know when it would be better to use degrees?

OpenStudy (perl):

if the angles are given in a problem with degrees, then i guess you should use degrees :)

OpenStudy (perl):

for some people it is easier to visualize angles in degrees. like 45 degrees versus pi / 4 , 30 degrees versus pi/6

OpenStudy (matimaticas):

Thank you :)
