Help! Quick! Algebra 2! Asymptotes!
I'm confused.
the vertical asypmtote is where your function is not defined in other words the value that makes to denominator equal to zero
Ok. Does that make x -7?
x=-7 is correct
So, how do I find y?
the horizontal asypmtote you do little analysis you look at the first term what happens as the values of x are really big the denominator will huge as we change x to be bigger and bigger so we would have a very small number over a biggish number so that term will almost be zero but not zero we are then left with only 6 term so y=6 is the horizontal asymptote meaning that the graph will go all the way closer to y=6 and but never cross it or touch it
if you graph that hyperbola it will make sense to you why 6 is horizontal asymp
I assume you haven't studied something called LIMITS
Erm....limits?
I have,
well then take the limit of that as x approaches infinity
K. Thanks
