When you compare numbers, any positive number is always greater than any negative number. Comparing positive numbers is easy. I'm sure you are familiar with it. Comparing negative numbers is just the opposite of comparing positive numbers, If the number looks larger, it is really smaller. For example, -8 is less than -2.

In your case, 12 is positive and -23 and -35 are both negative. That means 12 has to be the largest numbers. Then when you compare -23 and -35, they compare the opposite than if they were both positive. -35 is the smaller number and -23 is larger, so the final order is: 12, -23, -35
