he table shows the approximate population of a town, in thousands, for the years 2009–2013. Which is the best prediction for the town’s approximate population in 2020?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

40,000 45,000 53,000 67,000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So since the pattern is increasing by 3 on a yearly basis, the answer is going to be the difference of the last year on the chart and the desired year for the answer, multiplied by 3, and then added to the last year on the chart..

maybe not let me look at this again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its in thousands

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya

OpenStudy (anonymous):

53,000 is your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because every year it increases by 3,000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by the time 2020 rolls around, the answer is 53,000

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

33,000 + 7(3000) = 53,000 approximately

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

its not always increasing by 3000 - in first year the increase was 2000 but 53,000 is the best estimate
