how do chemist count things?
in moles
so the equation is a molecular ratio of the different compounds involved in the reaction, so you have to convert the grams of sodiums to moles and then use the ratios of the equation
multiply those together and you have moles of chlorine gas which you convert to grams using the molar mass 35.45g/mol
how do I convert the grams of sodium into moles?

you multiply the reciprocal of the molar mass \[92.0 g Na(\frac{ 1 mol }{ 22.99g })\]
where did the 22.9g come from?
that is the molar mass of Na
that comes from the periodic table
Oh, ok. So it would be 4.0 mol, right?
