Since the sample is taken at a baseball game, it is likely to be biased in favor of baseball.

hello??@cz1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D There is bias because the people selected were at a sporting event, and these people may favor sports more than other people surveyed. Also, since it was taken at a baseball game, most likely the people would choose that baseball is their favorite sport. If it was taken at a football or basketball game for example, people would be biased for those sports. An accurate survey should be random and unbiased.

The city council wants to find out if city residents would be willing to pay higher taxes for improvements to the city's parks. Which sampling procedure is most likely to give an unbiased report of the residents' opinions? A. The council randomly surveys people from a list of city residents. B. The council surveys a random selection of visitors to the city's parks. C. The council does a random survey of parents of children playing in the city's parks. D. The council randomly surveys employees of the city's parks department.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A It is random and unbiased. B is biased because the survey is done on visitors to the parks, which means they have an interest in the parks maybe unlike other residents. C is biased because the parents who let their kids play in the parks obviously support it. D is random because of course the employees of the park department would want funding and want to keep their jobs.
