Shakespeare will award

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so im entering a Shakespeare competition. I did it last yr and I'm doing it again. I have to choose a monologue and a sonnet. My monologue is all figured out. I'm just doing the one from the yr before. But i didnt really connect with my piece from last yr (the sonnet) so i want a new one. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas? I've been going through them but theres a lot and im a slow reader so some help would be great. I'm looking for a sonnet that is meant for a girl (since im a girl) or is neutral gender.

Sonnet 18?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

probably one of the most famous sonnets and i think its hard not to connect to it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ispike

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i recomend asking n literature

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i will look at it but if its popular then i prob wont do that one because then the judges will know it inside and out. I want to pick something thats less done because one thing someone else may have the same sonnet and then the judges cant help but compare ours and be like well which ones better. Also the judges have prob seen it a million times and know how they like it and i may have interpreted it differently

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also i have asked it in history, lit, writing and english. I thought that it follows all of these subjects

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this one is really interesting if you want to take a look?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Of all the sonnets this is the most difficult to give an adequate summary of, or to delve into its many meanings. It appears to be pregnant with hidden mysteries, and references abound to what appear to be contemporary events, situations and personalities. The majesty of the opening lines fills one with a sense of impending revelation, which indeed follows in the next two quatrains, but unfortunately, as soon as the spotlight of analysis is turned upon them, all the hidden meanings cloak themselves in mist, and the references to peace, mortal moons, the augurs and the balmy times evaporate into uncertain generalisations with no footing anywhere.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^^ this was a short part of the summary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it would be interesting to look at?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plz close the question, he can still answer your questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):
