(2/3)^(3x-2)=81/16

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\bf \left(\cfrac{2}{3}\right)^{3x-2}=\cfrac{81}{16} ?\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=1/3 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

81/16 is equivalent to (9/4)^2. (2/3)^-2= 9/4 so multiply the exponents by -2. -6x + 4 = 2. X= 1/3.

Thank you and thank you for actually explaingin it, it took me a minute to understand, but that was great.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem! Do you understand fully? These types of problems are usually solved simply by getting the same base somehow, then setting the exponents equal to eachother

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right, i couldn't figure out how to get the same base, but Multiplying both sides by^-2 is how right?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

kinda

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes put (2/3)^-2 resulting with (9/4)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

jessicacollin still confused?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no but i did get the correct answer which is -2/3
