Help. Giving Out Medals For Correct Answers ;) Write an equation for the line that is parallel to the given line and that passes through the given point. y = 3/4x – 9; (–8, –18) A.y = 4/3 – 12 B.y = 3/4x + 11/2 C.y = -4/3+ 12 D.y = 3/4 – 12

Nnesha (nnesha):

what is slope of your given line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope is obviously 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Payed attention in algebra 1, obviously

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

Nnesha (nnesha):

y= mx + b this is slope intercept form equation where m is slope and b is y-intercept @gxldmouth

Nnesha (nnesha):

m is slope which is always with x in your equation you have 3/4 with x so that's mean 3/4 is slope and bec parallel lines have same slope your other line should also have 3/4 slope which one you answer should be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow. ok...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I just solved it with a graphing calculator the answer is D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and btw @K_V8 and @Nnesha it might be confusing to the person who asked this question to see so many replies that aren't relevant to the question so if you don't mind could you delete your comments so that it is less crowded on this page?

Nnesha (nnesha):

@gxldmouth are you here ?? please if you want to solve this problem reply please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yess please , thanks @struddles73

Nnesha (nnesha):

ok so do you understand @gxldmouth

Nnesha (nnesha):

after that information whats your answer should be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that is what I came up with using a graphing calculator:)

Nnesha (nnesha):

@gxldmouth so i would like to say \(\color{red}{No}\)

Nnesha (nnesha):

you D option is |dw:1416622313669:dw| where is \(\color{red}{X}\) if there is no x no \(\color{red}{Slope}\)
