Jason considered two similar televisions at a local electronics store. The generic version was based off the brand name and was the size of the brand name. If the generic television set is 12 inches by 24 inches, what are the dimensions of the brand name television? (4 points) 7.5 inches by 15 inches 28 inches by 56 inches 32 inches by 64 inches 4.5 inches by 9 inches

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can anyone help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it asking if they are the same size since it is based off and the size of the brand name?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea thats all they gave me

OpenStudy (perl):

there seems to be a typo in the question, but if it is 'similar' then you can use the same ratio of length to width

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there any number here based off the brand name and was_____ the size of the brand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea 3/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o sorry that did not come up @JDizzle256

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the number is 3/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so anyone know?

OpenStudy (perl):

dimension of generic brand = 3/8 dimension of brand name

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (perl):

g = 3/8 * b now multiply both sides by 8/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (perl):

in other words, solve for b :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be the once i said c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be b=8g/3

OpenStudy (perl):

yes, then plug in the side of the generic brand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i keep thinking its c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but im guessing thats wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well do you know how you got c?

OpenStudy (perl):

you should feel confident about your answer now :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont cause i dont know which one it is XD @perl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just think because 8x8= 64

OpenStudy (perl):

(length of brand name television) = 8/3 *( length of generic television ) shortened we have b = 8/3 * g So the two lengths are b = 8/3 * ? b = 8/3 * ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its c lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i was right XD?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya :P just wanted to make sure you knew how

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill tell you if i got it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

geesh that guy really pulled the problem out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct it was c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whoop
