I need help with writing an equation. Some help plz! Harry has a jar that contains 75% of apple juice and the rest water. The bottle has 1 liter of water. Part A: Write an equation in one variable that can be used to find the total number of liters of apple juice and water in the jar. Define the variable used in the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the equation? So there is 0.75 liters of apple juice? Not 3 Liters?

@iambatman @nincompoop @Loser66 @arabpride @Zarkon I need help with understanding and writing the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i read the problem incorrectly sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is 75% apple juice and therefore 25% water right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you don't now how many liters you have, so lets call that \(x\) for number of liters you know that 25% of \(x\) is \(1\) liter so you can say \[.25x=1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that would make x = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in other words, 1 is one fourth of the total solve via \[x=1\div .25\] or even \[x=1\div \frac{1}{4}=1\times 4=4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the final equation is 0.25x = 1, correct?
